Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart (1999–2026)
Finding the correct tire size for your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 depends on its model year, cab configuration, drivetrain, trim level, and factory-installed wheel package. Even within the same model year, two Silverado 1500 trucks may have different original tire sizes.
This guide provides a year-by-year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 tire size chart covering 1999–2026. It also explains how to identify your truck’s original tire size, understand tire-size markings, distinguish factory-standard tires from optional equipment, and evaluate replacement tire sizes.
The chart focuses on conventional Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models. Silverado 1500HD, Silverado 2500HD, Silverado 3500HD, and Silverado EV applications are not included.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart by Year (1999–2026)
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 tire sizes vary by model year, generation, trim level, drivetrain, cab configuration, and factory wheel package. Depending on the model, original equipment tire sizes range from 16-inch tires on early GMT800 trucks to 22-inch tires on selected newer configurations.
This year-by-year chart covers 1999 through 2026, including documented factory tire options, special models, off-road packages, and important generation changes. It separates the 2007 Silverado Classic from the redesigned 2007 model and distinguishes the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD from the all-new 2019 Silverado 1500.
The sizes listed below represent documented factory configurations or orderable equipment where supporting information is available. Not every size applies to every trim or drivetrain from the same model year.
GMT800: 1999–2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 1999 Silverado 1500 primarily used 16-inch factory wheels. Tire sizes varied by drivetrain and equipment configuration.

| LT | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
1999 fitment note: GM’s historical RPO records contain a conflicting description for code QGA, showing P255/75R16 in one record while later records identify P245/75R16. Do not treat P255/75R16 as a separately confirmed standard fitment wiwithoutthout checking the vehicle’s original equipment information.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chawithoutrt
The 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 continued using 16-inch wheels. Chevrolet’s Heritage Restoration Kit lists several all-season and LT-metric tire options.
| Configuration | Drivetrain | Chevrolet-Documented Tire Size(s) |
| Base / WT | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/75R16 |
| LS | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/75R16 |

| Eligible configurations | 2WD or 4WD, depending on model and suspension | LT225/75R16, LT245/75R16 |
2001 source discrepancy: Some tire-manufacturer fitment catalogs list P255/70R16 and P245/75R16, while Chevrolet’s 2001 Heritage Kit lists P255/75R16 for 2WD and P265/75R16 for 4WD. The GM-listed dimensions should not be silently replaced with the secondary catalog entries. Verify the original tire placard before selecting either disputed size.
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2002 Silverado 1500 used 16-inch factory tire configurations across Base, LS, and LT trims.

| LS | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
| LT | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
2002 fitment note: Chevrolet’s Restoration Kit and GM tire records document multiple 16-inch tire choices. The year-specific Goodyear listings provide additional 2WD and 4WD trim-level fitment information. Exact factory selection remains vehicle-dependent.
2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2003 Silverado 1500 offered 16-inch tires on regular Base, WT, LS, and LT configurations. The Silverado SS had a separate 20-inch performance tire setup.

| Base / WT | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |
| LS | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |
| LT | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |

| Silverado 1500 SS | Performance model | P275/55R20 |
2003 fitment note: The SS tire size belongs to the separate performance model. Do not apply its 20-inch fitment to ordinary Silverado 1500 WT, LS, or LT trucks.
2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2004 Silverado 1500 retained the GMT800 platform and continued using 16-inch tires on its main configurations. Selected 4WD LS and LT models also received a documented 17-inch off-road tire option.
| Trim / Configuration | Drivetrain | Documented Factory Tire Size(s) |
| Base / WT | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |
| LS Regular / Extended / Crew Cab | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |
| LT Regular / Extended / Crew Cab | 2WD | P235/75R16, P255/70R16 |
| Base / WT | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
| LS Regular / Extended / Crew Cab | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
| LT Regular / Extended / Crew Cab | 4WD | P245/75R16, P265/75R16 |
| Eligible LS / LT Z71 | 4WD | P265/70R17 on/off-road, white-outlined-letter option |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 2WD / 4WD | P235/75R16 / P245/75R16, respectively |
| Silverado 1500 SS | AWD performance model | P275/55R20 |
Chevrolet’s Heritage documentation also lists LT225/75R16 and LT245/75R16 tire choices, but these need to be matched to the exact vehicle and suspension configuration before being assigned to a specific retail trim.
2004 fitment notes:
- The P265/70R17 option was specifically identified for eligible 4WD Silverado 1500 LS and LT configurations.
- The Hybrid and SS must remain separate from the conventional 1500 chart.
- Silverado 1500HD and other heavy-duty tire configurations are excluded.
2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2005 model year introduced more configuration-specific tire options, including a 20-inch B4V package and separate Hybrid and SS applications.
| Trim / Configuration | Drivetrain | Factory Tire Size(s) | Equipment / Fitment Note |
| Conventional 1500 – Regular / Extended Cab | 2WD | P245/70R17 108S | Chevrolet-listed standard tire |
| Conventional 1500 – B4V package | 2WD | P275/55R20 111S | 20-inch touring tire and chrome aluminum wheels |
| Conventional 1500 – Regular / Extended Cab | 4WD | P265/70R17 113S | Chevrolet-listed standard tire |
| Conventional 1500 – Crew Cab | 4WD | P265/70R17 113S | Chevrolet-listed standard tire |
| Eligible conventional 4WD configurations | 4WD | P265/70R17 | White-outlined-letter and on/off-road versions |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 2WD | P235/75R16 | Hybrid-specific fitment |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 4WD | P245/75R16 | Hybrid-specific fitment |
| Silverado 1500 SS | Performance model | P245/55R20 or P275/55R20 | Conflicting source records; verify the original tire label |
2005 SS discrepancy: Chevrolet’s Restoration Kit prints P245/55R20 for the SS, while the Goodyear fitment listing and GM QSS tire record identify P275/55R20. This conflict should remain disclosed rather than presenting one size as universally confirmed for every 2005 SS.
The 2005 Restoration Kit also warns that it is not intended for the Silverado Hybrid. Hybrid tire sizes above are therefore supported separately by Hybrid-specific fitment records.
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2006 Silverado 1500 used 17-inch tires on most conventional models. Hybrid and SS configurations had separate factory tire specifications.
| Trim / Configuration | Drivetrain | Documented Factory Tire Size(s) |
| WT / LS / LT | 2WD | P245/70R17, P265/70R17 on eligible configurations |
| WT / LS / LT | 4WD | P265/70R17 |
| Eligible LS / LT with 20-inch wheels | 2WD Extended Cab configuration | P275/55R20 |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 2WD | P235/75R16 |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 4WD | P245/75R16 |
| Silverado 1500 SS | RWD performance model | P275/55R20 |
2006 fitment notes:
- Chevrolet’s product information identifies a 17-inch tire range from P245/70R17 to P265/70R17 for conventional Silverado 1500 models, excluding the SS, 1500HD, and Hybrid.
- The 20-inch tire package was restricted to eligible 2WD Extended Cab configurations and was standard on the SS.
- Do not use 1500HD tire specifications as conventional Silverado 1500 fitments.
GMT800 Classic and GMT900: 2007
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic (GMT800)
The 2007 Silverado Classic continued the previous GMT800 platform. Its tire sizes should not be merged with those of the redesigned 2007 Silverado.
| Trim / Configuration | Drivetrain | Documented Factory Tire Size(s) |
| WT / LS / LT | 2WD | P245/70R17 |
| WT / LS / LT | 4WD | P265/70R17 |
| Eligible LS / LT wheel configurations | 2WD / 4WD, depending on equipment | P275/55R20 |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 2WD | P235/75R16 |
| Silverado 1500 Hybrid | 4WD | P245/75R16 |
| Silverado 1500 SS | RWD performance model | P275/55R20 |
Some year-specific fitment listings also show P265/70R17 on selected 2WD Classic configurations. Confirm these against the original vehicle equipment information rather than treating them as universal factory fitments.
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 New Body (GMT900)
The redesigned 2007 Silverado 1500 moved to the GMT900 platform and introduced a different wheel and tire configuration.
| Trim / Package | Drivetrain | Documented Factory Tire Size(s) |
| WT | 2WD | P245/70R17 |
| WT | 4WD | P265/70R17 |
| LS | 2WD | P245/70R17 |

| LT | 2WD | P245/70R17 |
| LT | 4WD | P265/70R17 |
| Eligible Z71 configurations | 4WD | P265/65R18 |
| Eligible LT / LTZ 20-inch wheel configurations | Selected 2WD models | P275/55R20 |
2007 generation note: The Classic and New Body do not share interchangeable wheel applications. GM’s accessory information identifies different wheel-offset requirements for these two versions.

| LTZ with 20-inch wheels | Eligible configurations | P275/55R20 |
| LTZ with Max Trailer Package | Eligible configurations | P265/70R17, P275/55R20 |
2008 note: Chevrolet’s main factory tire pattern is P245/70R17 for 2WD and P265/70R17 for 4WD. Additional sizes depend on wheel, Z71, and trailering equipment.

2010 XFE note: Chevrolet’s XFE package documentation identifies 17-inch wheels and P245/70R17 tires. Some secondary fitment catalogs also display P275/55R20, but that size should not be presented as a confirmed original XFE package fitment without vehicle-specific evidence.

| XFE | Eligible 2WD Crew Cab | P245/70R17 |
2011 note: The XFE package should remain associated with its documented 17-inch P245/70R17 equipment. A secondary catalog’s 20-inch entry is not sufficient proof of an original XFE factory wheel package.

K2XX: 2014–2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Size Chart
The 2014 Silverado 1500 introduced the K2XX generation. Its 17-inch tire sizes varied by cab and drivetrain, so a single universal 17-inch size is not appropriate.

2015 note: GM’s technical product information includes a P245/70R17 reference, while the fleet RPO record identifies P255/70R17. Because trim-specific evidence for the former is not consistently established, do not assign P245/70R17 as a universal 2015 Silverado 1500 fitment.

Important Notes About Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Tire Fitment
1. Factory tire size versus optional tire size
A tire size listed for a model year does not mean it was standard on every trim. Some sizes were available only with a specific wheel package, drivetrain, cab, engine, off-road package, or special edition.
2. P-metric and LT-metric tires are different
For example:
- P265/70R17
- LT265/70R17C
These sizes have similar nominal dimensions but different tire classifications and load specifications. Do not treat them as identical factory replacements.
3. Special models require separate verification
Silverado Hybrid, SS, XFE, Trail Boss, ZR2, SSV, and PPV configurations may have tire specifications different from ordinary WT, LS, LT, RST, LTZ, or High Country models.
4. Accessory wheels are not automatically factory-installed equipment
A Chevrolet-approved accessory wheel and tire combination may be available without being standard equipment on every truck. Confirm whether the vehicle was originally built with that wheel package before calling it an original factory fitment.
5. Check the original tire information before replacing tires
The Tire and Loading Information label on the driver’s door frame identifies the original equipment tire size and recommended cold inflation pressure for the individual vehicle. The Service Parts Identification label and its RPO codes can help identify the original wheel, suspension, and tire options.
Always use the vehicle-specific information rather than relying only on a general model-year chart.
The chart covers conventional Silverado 1500 model years 1999–2026. The next-generation 2027 model is outside this chart’s scope.
How to Find the Original Tire Size on Your Silverado 1500
The most reliable way to identify the original tire size for an individual Silverado is to check the vehicle’s Tire and Loading Information label.
1. Check the Driver-Side Door-Jamb Label
Open the driver’s door and look for the Tire and Loading Information label on the door frame or nearby body panel.
The label identifies important tire and inflation information, including the original tire size and recommended cold tire pressure.
Use the information on your specific vehicle rather than assuming every truck of the same model year has identical tires.
2. Check the Owner’s Manual
Your Chevrolet Silverado 1500 owner’s manual provides information about tire specifications, inflation pressure, tire maintenance, and replacement requirements.
Make sure you consult the manual for the correct model year. A manual may cover multiple configurations, so the vehicle’s own tire placard remains important.
3. Check the Vehicle’s Factory Equipment Information
GM RPO codes and vehicle build information can help identify factory-installed equipment and available options.
However, an RPO description should not automatically be treated as proof that a tire size was standard on every trim or drivetrain. Confirm the code’s application for the specific model year and vehicle.
How to Read Chevrolet Silverado Tire Sizes
A tire-size marking contains several pieces of information about the tire’s dimensions and construction.
For example, consider P265/70R17 113S.
| Marking | Meaning |
|---|---|
| P | P-metric passenger tire designation |
| 265 | Nominal tire section width in millimeters |
| 70 | Aspect ratio; sidewall height is 70% of section width |
| R | Radial construction |
| 17 | Wheel diameter in inches |
| 113 | Load index |
| S | Speed rating |
Tire Width
The number immediately after the tire-type prefix represents the nominal section width in millimeters.
For example, 265 indicates a nominal section width of 265 mm. Actual mounted tire dimensions can vary by manufacturer, tire model, and approved measuring rim.
Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio describes the sidewall height as a percentage of the tire’s nominal width.
For a 265/70R17 tire:
265 × 0.70 = 185.5 mm nominal sidewall height.
Wheel Diameter
The number after the construction letter indicates the wheel diameter in inches.
A tire marked R17 is designed for a 17-inch wheel, not an 18-inch wheel.
P-Metric vs. LT-Metric Tires
Silverado 1500 models may use P-metric or LT-metric tires depending on their original equipment and configuration.
These designations are not interchangeable descriptions. LT tires are designed for light-truck applications and use different load and inflation specifications.
When replacing an original tire, check the required load capacity, load range, speed rating, and vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. Do not select a replacement based on tire dimensions alone.
For a more detailed explanation of tire markings, see our tire size explained guide.
Factory Tire Sizes vs. Optional and Aftermarket Sizes
Not every tire size listed for a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 represents standard factory equipment.
A size may belong to one of several categories:
| Category | What it means |
|---|---|
| Factory-standard | Supplied as original equipment for the specified configuration |
| Factory option | Available as an optional factory equipment choice |
| Package-specific | Associated with a particular trim, suspension, drivetrain, or wheel package |
| LPO or GM accessory | Associated with a separately identified GM accessory or dealer-installed option |
| Aftermarket fitment | Listed as a possible replacement or modified fitment rather than confirmed original equipment |
This distinction matters when comparing tire sizes from different databases. A tire manufacturer’s fitment lookup may list several compatible sizes without establishing that every size was factory-installed or available on every trim.
For the most accurate original-equipment information, use the model-year chart together with the vehicle’s tire placard and factory equipment information.
Can You Put Larger Tires on a Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
Many Silverado owners consider larger tires for appearance, ground clearance, off-road use, or a different driving setup.
However, whether a larger tire will fit depends on more than the model year.
Important factors include:
- Original wheel diameter and width.
- Tire section width and overall diameter.
- Wheel offset and backspacing.
- Suspension and brake clearance.
- Fender and liner clearance.
- Suspension modifications, leveling kits, or lift kits.
- Tire load capacity and wheel load rating.
A size that fits one Silverado configuration may rub or cause clearance problems on another.
Can a Silverado 1500 Fit 33-Inch Tires?
A tire commonly described as a 33-inch tire has an approximate overall diameter near 33 inches. The exact diameter depends on its complete tire-size designation and manufacturer specifications.
Whether a 33-inch tire fits without rubbing depends on the truck’s original wheel and tire setup, wheel offset, suspension, and available clearance.
Do not assume that every Silverado 1500 can use a 33-inch tire without modifications.
Can a Silverado 1500 Fit 35-Inch Tires?
A 35-inch tire is substantially larger than many original-equipment Silverado tire sizes.
Depending on the truck’s generation and configuration, installing 35-inch tires may require suspension changes, wheel changes, trimming, or other fitment adjustments.
The exact requirements cannot be determined from model year alone. Verify the complete wheel and tire combination before purchasing.
What Is the Biggest Stock Tire Size for a Chevrolet Silverado 1500?
There is no single largest stock tire size that applies to every Chevrolet Silverado 1500 from 1999 through 2026.
Factory tire sizes changed with model generations, trims, wheel packages, and special equipment.
For example, selected newer Silverado 1500 configurations offer larger factory wheel-and-tire combinations than many earlier models. The ZR2 also has its own package-specific tire equipment.
To identify the largest original-equipment tire size for your truck, use the year-by-year chart and verify that the relevant size was available for your exact trim and package.
Do not treat an aftermarket fitment listing as proof of a factory-stock configuration.
Wheel and Tire Compatibility
Choosing a replacement tire requires checking the wheel specifications as well as the tire dimensions.
Wheel Diameter and Width
The replacement tire must be approved for the wheel diameter and rim-width range specified by its manufacturer.
A tire designed for a 17-inch wheel cannot be mounted on an 18-inch wheel.
Wheel Offset and Backspacing
Wheel offset affects how far the wheel and tire sit inward or outward relative to the vehicle’s hub mounting surface.
An unsuitable offset can reduce suspension or fender clearance, even when the tire’s overall diameter is close to the original size.
See our wheel offset chart for a more detailed explanation.
Overall Tire Diameter
Changing tire diameter can affect:
- Speedometer readings.
- Odometer readings.
- Effective gearing.
- Ground clearance.
- Acceleration characteristics.
- Available clearance around the suspension and body.
Use our tire size calculator to compare the original and replacement tire dimensions.
For additional size references, see our tire size chart.
A calculator can compare dimensions, but it cannot confirm physical clearance or guarantee that a tire-and-wheel combination is safe for a particular truck.
Before Replacing Your Silverado 1500 Tires
Before purchasing replacement tires, check the following:
- Confirm the original tire size: Read the driver-side tire placard.
- Check the load index: The replacement must meet the vehicle’s load requirements.
- Check the speed rating: Follow the vehicle and tire manufacturer’s requirements.
- Verify tire construction: Confirm whether the truck requires P-metric or LT-metric tires.
- Check wheel compatibility: Verify wheel diameter and approved rim width.
- Confirm clearance: Check suspension, brake, fender, and liner clearance.
- Check inflation pressure: Use the vehicle’s recommended cold pressure rather than the maximum pressure printed on the tire sidewall.
For additional tire safety guidance, see the NHTSA Tire Safety Guide. It explains how to identify the correct replacement tire size, check recommended inflation pressure, and understand tire safety ratings.
For inflation specifications, see our Chevrolet Silverado 1500 tire pressure chart.
The door-jamb tire placard and the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations should guide the final replacement decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size tires does a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 take?
The correct tire size depends on the model year, trim, cab configuration, drivetrain, and factory wheel package. Check the year-by-year chart in this guide and verify the size on your truck’s driver-side tire placard.
Are all Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models equipped with the same tire size?
No. Tire sizes can vary between model years and configurations. Different trims, cab styles, drivetrains, suspension packages, and factory wheel options may use different sizes.
Where can I find my Silverado 1500’s factory tire size?
Check the Tire and Loading Information label on the driver’s door frame. The owner’s manual and vehicle-specific factory equipment information can provide additional details.
Can I install a different tire size on my Silverado 1500?
A different tire size may be possible, but you must check wheel compatibility, load capacity, speed rating, overall diameter, offset, and physical clearance. A size listed for another Silverado configuration is not automatically suitable for your truck.
Can I use LT tires instead of P-metric tires?
Not automatically. P-metric and LT-metric tires have different construction and load characteristics. Any replacement must meet the vehicle’s required load capacity and manufacturer specifications.
Do 2007 Silverado 1500 Classic and New Body models use the same tire sizes?
They are separate vehicle versions with different generation platforms and fitment information. Check the correct 2007 version in the year-by-year chart rather than assuming their tire specifications are identical.
Is the 2019 Silverado 1500 LD the same as the all-new 2019 Silverado?
No. The 2019 Silverado 1500 LD is a carryover model, while the all-new 2019 Silverado uses the redesigned T1XX platform. Their tire-size information must be checked separately.
Does the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD have the same tire sizes as the refreshed 2022 model?
Not necessarily. The 2022 LTD and refreshed Silverado are separate versions. The refreshed model introduced additional equipment and the ZR2 configuration, so check the correct version in the chart.
What is the recommended tire pressure for a Silverado 1500?
The recommended cold tire pressure depends on the vehicle’s original tire equipment and configuration. Use the pressure printed on your truck’s Tire and Loading Information label. Do not use the tire sidewall’s maximum pressure as the vehicle’s recommended inflation pressure.
Final Note
The correct Chevrolet Silverado 1500 tire size is determined by the specific vehicle’s original equipment, not just its model year.
Use the 1999–2026 chart as a year-specific reference, then confirm your truck’s original tire size and pressure using the driver-side door-jamb label. Before changing tire sizes, also verify load capacity, wheel specifications, and physical clearance.
